The Central Lowlands also contain the Murray-Darling Basin and the Lake Eyre Basin. Australia has a huge coastline, and is one of the countries of Oceania. It is surrounded by the Pacific Ocean and the Indian Ocean. It has to be remembered that Australia is the smallest continent, but the largest island in the world.

Eastern Highlands
The Eastern Highlands of Australia is also known by the name of the Great Dividing Range. This region is a high amount of rainfall, and is very fertile. This region has a very high concentration of plant and animal life in the forests that are found here. Most of the population of Australia is concentrated in this particular region. The Great Barrier Reef is also to be found on the east coast of Australia.

Western Highlands or the Western Plateau contains a number of mountain ranges like the Musgrave Range. There are large rivers like the Victoria and the Ashburton, towards the north and west of this region.

The deserts in Australia, like the Great Victoria Desert, and the Gibson Desert are concentrated in the central, and the north-western part of the country.
